SheOak: Casual Black Beach House by Base Architecture

Base Architecture has a cool design that they can be proud of, and it’s called SheOak House. This house is located in Kingscliff, New South Wales, Australia designed in informal, casual, comfortable and welcoming style. Houses with large 350 square meters was built in a mix of steel, timber and concrete, making this house looks like a giant black box. The double height entry with grass underfoot and natural landscape consists of a semi indoor/outdoor space constructed of clear weatherboards that is able to be hosed out through the decking boards to discard unwanted sand and salt. The area is designed for the wetsuit to be abandoned into the concealed laundry and the surfboards to be ‘racked’. The ground level has a quite simple open plan and opened up to a courtyard and a pool. Upstairs consists of simple bedroom and bathroom facilities that interact with the ground level and entry via a series of voids and openings. This house is resistant to such weather conditions as wind, salt and sun. Overall this house calls out openness and a casual sensation that typifies what a beach house should be. [via]
